Detoxifying Your Body Only Happens with Pure Water

Detoxifying ones body is a well-known approach to good health, which is highly recommended by holistic and naturopathic practitioners. However, they don't always mention that water needs to be pure.

It's true; the first thing a good naturopath or holistic practitioner will mention at the end of any treatment is that to detoxify one's body, one must drink lots of water. Abundant quantities on a daily basis will assist the body in cleansing itself by flushing out any toxins it may be harboring. While many mention drinking the water, many practitioners don't take one step further and suggest that it be the purest water only. Bottled water, tap water or filtered water just won't cut it.

Only pure water will get to work quickly and detoxify one's body and prevent further toxic buildup the more it is consumed. The problem is when told to drink water, many people reach for the flavored beverages because they don't like plain water, or buy a bottled brand with additives – additives that themselves are toxic to our bodies.

What's a body to do? Stick to the pure water and if the taste isn't appealing, then add a spritz of lemon or lime, but steer clear of the "fake" brands of bottled water that say they are the purest water on the planet Earth. The truth is they are not the purest, for a variety of reasons, but one of the major reasons is that they come in plastic bottles.

Plastic bottles have chemicals that leach into the water when the bottles are subjected to sunlight. It's a bit of a catch-22 unless a person is water savvy enough to use glass or stainless steel bottles for their daily water intake. While avoiding bottled water may be fairly easy, there is the problem of tap water at home.

The best solution to get the purest, freshest water at home is to invest in a water distillation system. It is the one system that will effectively remove things such as chemicals, lead, chlorine and other things no one wants to know about because they're dangerous. With a water distillation system no one has to worry about water any longer.

Tap Water Needs Major Help

Who hasn't heard some real horror stories when it comes to the water we take for granted that spills out of our taps? Well get ready for the ride, things are worse than we think.

This will totally shock you, and it should also boot many people into taking action about their drinking water. A fairly recent report done up by the Ralph Nader Institute indicates there are over 2,100 toxic (cancer causing) chemicals in our drinking water. Think about this for just one second. Everything anyone pours down the drain, sprays on fields, and preps their lawn and garden with goes into our water supplies through the groundwater system.

Let's just repeat that one thought, one more time to emphasize it. Everything dumped on the earth finds its way back into the water system and into our taps, including lead, chlorine, drugs, pesticides and viruses. It's bad enough this stuff lands in our water, but the added fact that American water filtration plants are aging shouldn't make one feel safe.

The more chemicals we dump into the water, the more chemicals wind up in our water filtration plants. Now if the plants were state of the art and modern, this might not be such a worrisome problem. However, the fact is that most of the plants were built so many years ago they have trouble dealing with the onslaught of gunk found in our water today. This is not encouraging news.

The most frightening of the latest additions to our water supplies is what drug manufacturers leach into the system, including antibiotics, tranquilizers, heart medications and sex hormones. No ones needs unknown drugs in their drinking water, quietly affecting the people whose systems have been invaded by this toxic mixture in the guise of a glass of water.

Science says that fish in the rivers where the sex hormones are being dumped are beginning to change sex and that some men have started to grow breasts because of the increasing levels of female hormones in the tap water. No matter what methods are used at a filtration plant, and most of them are just the basics; they will not be able to remove the drugs, hormones, viruses and other synthetic compounds floating through our water. This is depressing news.

There is only one way to deal with contaminated tap water and that is to have a home water filtration system and the only real answer to protect our families is investing in a water distillation system. No other method of purification is as effective as distillation and the proof is in the water.

They Call This Clean Water?

Ever wondered what happens to the water you eventually get out of your tap at home? What chemicals are put into it and how it is treated?

Well, if you don't wonder, then you are likely drinking some really poor quality water. If you do wonder, you no doubt have a water distillation system at home because you are a smart water consumer. Honestly, drinking contaminated water is a mega problem today and it isn't going to get any better, so it's time we took things into our own hands and did something to ensure we have safe drinking water at home.

To begin with, any water taken from a lake, stream, watershed, etc., is pre-treated. The process varies from location to location, but in essence the first step is taking out the large objects (like twigs, etc.) then storing the water. Step two usually involves pre-conditioning and pre-chlorination. That sounds rather disgusting to begin with, but it gets worse yet. The pH level is usually adjusted because fewer than 7 means acidic water and over 7 means alkaline water.

You don't want acidic water in your home because it does a lot of damage to your body by taking nutrients out of your bones and teeth, to level-out the acidity. Just when you thought this process was beginning to make some sense, and you were feeling protected to a certain extent, along comes the news that not all water treatment facilities even bother with the pH balancing step.

Next on the list is something called flocculation, which sounds a bit like chunks of things that float on the top of the water and wait to be hauled away. You’d be right in that assumption. The plant tosses in some small particles of something that remains unidentified, which attracts material that makes the water a cloudy color. The cloudy goo sticks to the particles, rises to the top, and gets skimmed off.

All this and the water has not even been filtered yet. Most municipalities use a sand bed filter, but this does not remove all the contaminants in the water. It only catches the chunks big enough to be trapped. Smaller particles like viruses, chemicals and bacteria make their way through. A word on synthetic chemicals and their molecular size: synthetic chemical molecules are smaller than water molecules, so guess what happens to them? Right, they don't get filtered out of the water.

Finally comes the chlorine, a contaminant very dangerous to our health. A contaminant that we are only supposed to have 1 part per million to swim in, but we drink 3 parts per million. What is wrong with that picture? It's time to do something about our tap water. No question about it.

The only answer to ensuring our safety at home and getting the purest, freshest water we can, is to invest in a water distillation system. No other method of purification is as effective as distillation.

Get the Lead Out!

While you may have known that water has a variety of contaminates in it, did you ever stop to think it may also have lead present? Well, it does, along with several other chemicals that are very frightening.

We don't just have contaminated water in the US; it's all over the world in various countries, including Canada. Of course many people associate third world countries with contaminated water without realizing they have bad water in their own backyards. The health risks are horrendous and some of the side effects of drinking bad water are classified as life threatening. How bad is that when water is supposed to be the elixir of life and instead it may make us sick?

The most common contaminants are ones which we have a passing familiarity, only under difference circumstances. For instance, we all know chlorine as being an effective and very cheap disinfectant. Well cheap though it may be, it is one of the most common water contaminants in the US. Does it surprise you that municipalities and other governments use a toxic chemical to kill biological pathogens in your drinking water?

After you get over the surprise, find the rage inside you that your own country could use a toxic chemical in your drinking water, citing water safety as its first concern. Its first concern ought to be that the longer a person drinks chlorinated water the higher the risks of breast, bladder and rectal cancer.

We're not talking about a 45% chance of getting such illnesses; we’re talking about a whopping 93% likelihood of developing cancer. Go ahead and sit down in stunned silence, and then start considering what you are going to do about your home drinking water.

Next to chlorine comes lead as the second most common contaminant. This usually leaches out from the pipes in your home and more specifically, the soldered joints and fixtures. Did you know that the Environmental Protection Agency says that almost 98% of the homes in the US today are using lead contaminated water? Bet that will change the way you look at your water the next time you turn on the tap.

Here is what is even more frightening about the presence of lead in your water. There isn't any specific allowable degree of lead contamination for water. That's right – no specific degree. Lead has a dangerous track record as being highly potent and even small amounts are known to cause behavioral problems, learning disabilities and low IQ.

By now you are likely starting to do some research into what is the best filtration system for your home. Given what we know about the water we are drinking today, the only water purification system that is able to provide the purest, freshest water for our health is distillation; the only process that ensures the water is clean and safe to drink. No other water purification method is as effective as distillation.

There's WHAT in the Water?

Looks good, smells good, tastes OK – then it must be OK? Right? If you're talking about American tap water, just because it looks OK, smells OK and the taste isn't bad, doesn't mean it is all right to drink.

It's sad, but true, that water may look just delicious, but in reality over the long-term it may be deadly. Yes, the water on tap in your home. The one you make tea from, mixed drinks, and just pour a cold glass on a hot day. That very water may have things in it that may shock you. Well in fact, it will shock you.

How happy would you be if someone told you that the water you have in your morning glass of fruit drink has a kitchen sink full of chemicals in it from pesticides to household cleaners, and from antibiotics to sex hormones? If that hasn't made you stop drinking tap water, then we don't know what will.

Drinking this stuff is a problem; it's just that simple, and using it to cook or bath in isn't a super idea either and here is why. Research has shown that most cancers we develop have been linked to low levels of chemicals in tap water – the leading culprit? The number one chemical that causes numerous cancers is chlorine, which is noted to cause rectal cancer, breast cancer and bladder cancer.

Pesticides, herbicides and other similar chemicals leach into the ground water and eventually make their way into our tap and our bottled water. Right – the bottled water. Surprised? You shouldn't be, because at least 25% of the bottled waters on the market come from a tap and they are not subjected to the same tests our water at home may be.

It's one thing to be an adult and drink contaminated water, as our immune systems are more fully developed than a child's. So think about this. That tap water may have a mega load of dangerous chemicals in it and our children are consuming it. Kids aren't able to flush out toxins like that. They need to be drinking purer water.

Have you taken a look lately at your local water plant? If not, it might be time that you did. The trip will open your eyes like nothing else will. Our urban infrastructure is deteriorating rapidly and upkeep is second to last on the list of things to do. These older structures are simply not able to keep up with the increasing load of contaminants that find their way into our water. Remember that plant is sending water to your house and you have no idea what it in it.

Consider this as well. If you regularly drink tap water and have stomach problems did you give some thought to the connection? More than 35% of gastrointestinal difficulties are the direct result of drinking contaminated water. It's time to put that glass of water back down on the counter and do some serious hunting for a system to purify your tap water.

The only water purification system that is able to provide the purest, freshest water for our health is distillation; the only process that ensures the water is clean and safe to drink. No other water purification method is as effective as distillation.

If You Don't Know This, Will It Hurt You?

If you don't know this little piece of information, then it definitely has the potential to cause you a great deal of harm. We're talking about unknowingly drinking contaminated tap water – the very water in your home.

Not knowing that your tap water is contaminated with hundreds of things you'd rather not know about may cause you an inordinate amount of trouble now and later in life. Did you know that drinking contaminated water is one of the leading causes of stomach distress?

Makes sense if you stop to think about it. All those chemicals swimming around in your acidic stomach, interacting with each other and your body as it tries to maintain the status quo. Not a pretty picture at all.

Sure there are laws in place that say this and that about our water and its quality or lack thereof, but if you take a good look at each different state and county, etc. you'll find a wide range of what the local governments consider to be acceptable contamination levels. Imagine that, acceptable contamination levels. This means that you are drinking water that has a certain level and certain unknown number of pollutants in it and this is considered acceptable by the local government.

The usual argument is that "The levels are so low they won't harm anyone." Statistics show otherwise and if you take a sample of your tap water to a private lab, you'll find out in a hurry what other goodies are in your water that shouldn't be there. While the arguments sound plausible at first blush, start taking them apart when you do some online research about water quality. That will wake you up in a hurry.

Here is another thing to contemplate. You know that antibiotic your child just about finished, but only had three pills left? That should have been thrown out in the wastebasket, but instead it may have possibly been flushed down the toilet. Multiple this scenarios by millions in a large city and you have the medicine showing up in your tap water later.

Contaminated water is the next biggest problem we face as a society and we need to do something to protect our families. The only answer to ensuring our safety at home and getting the purest, freshest water we can, is to invest in a water distillation system. No other method of purification is as effective as distillation.

Enhanced or Flavored Water Tips to Know

Bottled water is usually the choice of active on the go people who want to slake their thirst. However same old, same old, can get boring; so innovative souls have taken to kicking up their water in a couple of ways – flavoring it or enhancing it.

Flavoring water isn't a new idea as millions of years ago cave men were known to dunk certain leaves into hot water and drink the brew. While our water and tea is no doubt more civilized these days, the same principle applies – people prefer flavored water over plain water.

The choices on the market today for flavored waters are regular or carbonated and they are the pick of smart professionals who know when and how to cut calories. Sugar based drinks pack on pounds and others use artificial sweeteners that have questionable side effects. Even today the safety of aspartame is still being debated.

The flavor of choice is a personal one, but the prices may vary with the flavored lot coming in at a tad more than the regular bottled versions and sodas. Now if budget is a consideration then flavoring is something that can be done at home in the kitchen with the help of a lemon, orange or lime. For those with more of a spirit of adventure, try using melon or other berries topped off with a leaf or two of mint.

If the love of the running circuit is bottled water, consider stainless steel and not plastic to reduce chemicals leaching out into the water once the bottle gets hot. Stick to low cal or no cal additives and call it a winner. On the other hand, enhanced water has its followers as well.

Enhanced water is just water that has added electrolytes and vitamins. This will be found in most of the sports drinks on the market. However, sports drinks pack a sugar punch and hide either the same or a higher number of calories than sodas. By the way, many of the sports drinks also have salt to help maintain body stasis while working out. Our bodies don't really need that extra salt if all we are interested in is a few extra vitamins.

Be aware that the vitamin-enhanced drinks aren't really all that special because the vitamins they are enhanced with are ones found in a healthy balanced diet. Check the labels as well for the sneaky twins – glucose and fructose. These sugars will ramp up calorie intake.

Being aware of what is in bottled waters – flavored or enhanced, may save money over the long term and help with weight loss on another level. Smart consumers need to be checking the fine print on the labels before guzzling too many of either of these highly marketed bottled waters.

Water No-See-ums

While water may look like it's pure, simple, clean and ready to be consumed without a second thought, the fact is there are a whole lot of no-see-ums in that clear liquid that could cause a whole lot of grief.

We're not just talking about tap water, although that is a good portion of the water we consume in America. We are also referring to bottled water. The home tap and the bottled water may contain chlorine, pesticides, herbicides, aluminum, lead, antibiotics, hormones and fecal coliforms. The story is that water contains much more than many people realize, and most of it is not good for human health.

The water on tap in the house is monitored by certain regulations that allow acceptable levels of contaminants to get a free ride in the life-giving liquid. And further regulations also state the water should not have other water-borne diseases such as cholera or typhoid fever. While this may be comforting to read about, it does not address the reality that humans and Mother Nature may pollute the water we are drinking.

Consider this as well. Even if the tap water and bottled water have what is classified as acceptable levels of certain contaminants, this may be acceptable to certain people whose immune systems are not compromised. If a different demographic is considered, such as pregnant women or AIDS patients, this is another matter entirely.

Our very safety is at stake and we need to address the issue with alacrity. The only way to make certain the at home water system offers the purest and freshest water possible is to consider a water distillation system and not just a filtration system. Filtration systems are often the source of contamination due to improperly cleaned filters.

Water distillers make tap water as pure as it can be, and there is no other method that is more effective at doing this. Sticking with a water distillation system will be the best household investment for now and the future.
