Even the Government Knows About Contaminated Water

Most, if not all, of the water we drink is contaminated in some form or another. It’s a “for sure” that the government knows and a certainty that we need water distillers in our homes to combat contamination.

The Missouri Attorney General is investigating a complaint that a state agency violated state law by refusing to release data that showed E. coli was above safe levels in the Lake of the Ozarks. Evidently the Department of Natural Resources turned down multiple requests under that state’s Sunshine Act to release the relevant data. Water distillers would be in big demand with the community facing that kind of a problem.

The Department’s director is walking a rather fine line these days indicating that his department should have immediately released the report detailing the levels of E. coli in the lake. This in light of the fact that the department had apparently kept the report hush-hush for about a month because they didn’t want to affect tourism or cause public panic. The concern and panic happened anyway when people found out. The situation was merely compounded by the Department of Natural Resources hiding the facts. The lost time for people to purchase water distillers for their home and at the lake was crucial.

If the government in various states is withholding information of this nature because it doesn’t want to lose tourism dollars or cause people to get into a flap, what other information about the water haven’t they told us? Interesting question, don’t you think? The public has every right to know about the water in or from which they wash, bathe, play and drink.

Our health is at risk when we drink contaminated water and when public agencies, who are supposed to safeguard us from things like this, participate in a cover-up like the Missouri one. It's pretty disheartening to know that our planet's water supply is only roughly 3% fresh, or useable. What's worse is that only 1% of what is available is fit for human consumption.

While it may seem there is enough water in the world for everyone to live and let live, this isn't actually the case. There is actually less than 1% of the 3% of available water that is considered suitable to be tapped for use. The rest is in a form that isn't useable or even accessible, meaning the rest of the water is frozen or deep in the recesses of the Earth and not able to be reached.

The 1% that is useable isn't necessarily useable for drinking or bathing, as it is contaminated with a variety of living things we don't see such as protozoa, bacteria looking for a human host and viruses. None of these wave riders are safe and if the water isn't treated, the consequences may be disastrous. Therein lies the conundrum, because when it is treated, it is still toxic and not safe to use.

The only way to ensure that homes and businesses in America have safe drinking water is to invest in a water distillation system. The sheer staggering numbers of toxic chemicals in the water people drink is horrendous – 2,100 and counting, and no one knows where it will end.

If there was a dime handed out for every chemical or other toxic waste dumped into the world's water supply, people would be rich. It's not just the world's water supplies that are the concern either. Right here at home in the United States, municipal water supplies are contaminated to one degree or another.

While there may be some modern water filtering technology in a few of the filtration plants, they would be few and far between due to the enormous costs of having a plant that actually does its job and removes crud from the water. The easiest route for most municipalities right now is to use the toxic chemicals chlorine or Chloramine because they're cheap and easy to find. To say that Americans are drinking safe water would be a major fib.

Looking at a glass of freshly poured water might lead some to believe that it is just fine to drink. It looks clear and doesn't seem to have any noticeable bad taste. If these two criteria are passed, then it means the water is safe to drink. Clean and clear are two different things, and being clear doesn't mean it's necessarily clean and safe.

There is NO question about it, the water we drink is definitely contaminated and we should be aware that our reservoirs may be public health hazards.

It's not just our tap water at home that is polluted; all the water we filter, even through our municipal filtration plants, is contaminated. This observation may apply to our reservoirs as well and that makes for a fairly grim picture. What is anyone doing about it?

Chloramine and/or straight chlorine is one of the leading links to causing cancer. It's only recently that scientists have finally figured out what long-term exposure to chlorine really means and the results aren't that pretty. Sure chlorine is touted as a "necessary" bad thing to keep the evil crud at bay in our water.

It kills things we don't even want to think about being in our water. The truth here is that chlorine and its by-products, no matter what you want to call them, encourage the production of free radicals in our bodies. These in turn cause cell damage, not to mention heart disease.

But, it's not just chlorine we need to be worried about. Chloramine Disinfects but Still Harms

No matter what you "call" it, it is still a contaminant that we all need to be aware is being used to disinfect our water. Chloramine by any other name is still toxic.

Along with the health care system and the economy, contaminated drinking water is another hot button for most Americans. Sadly though, there are many people who still feel that this isn't really an issue, simply because their water looks and smells fine. If it were only that simple.

It's not too much of a stretch to say that just about every day there is something in your local newspapers about what is in your drinking water that will shock and dismay you. Lead of course is a cancer-causing agent.

We're not quite sure why the powers that be in their infinite wisdom think that going to yet another highly toxic chemical, that is worse than bleach, will improve our drinking water any time soon. Everything we pitch down the drain, and that includes the chloramine added at the treatment plant, winds up in our taps. Yes, everything, even those pills that someone in the house may have flushed down the sink drain because they weren't going to take the rest of them.

If every house on the block, in the city, in the county, in the state, etc., did that, imagine what you would have in your water. The trouble is, everyone "does" do this to a certain extent. The neighbor who uses lawn chemicals for a nice yard, the farmer who fertilizes his fields for a higher yield, the drug manufacturer who sneaks his waste water from the drug plant into the main river flowing past the plant – every one of those people is adding toxins to our water supply.

Despite all the evidence, media reports, exposés, in-depth investigative reports, and government reports, some people still think our water is safe to drink right from the tap.

Contaminated Water Isn't Just a Third World Country Problem

Most people figure that water contamination is a third world problem and that there is no way this could be a complication in America.

Third world countries are not the only locations in the world with serious water contamination issues. The fact is that we have this same issue right in our own backyards, so we can't blame the destruction of water plants on a conflict or war for our problems. Or can we?
